Cat Sneaks Out Of The House And Gets Trapped In A Sewer For Eight Weeks

While some indoor cats love the warmth and safety of home for their entire lives, others desperately long to explore the outside world.

That’s exactly what this 3-year-old tabby cat named Drifter wanted. However, what happened once he sneaked out of his home turned into a life lesson.

Drifter was a well-behaved cat living a beautiful life until he went missing from his home in Duluth, Minnesota.

Desperate, his owners immediately began searching for him, but little did they know, he got trapped, unable to return home.

The entire family was heartbroken but never gave up on their beloved feline friend. They hung up posters all over the city and continued searching but without success.

After nearly eight weeks of searching for Drifter, the family began losing hope. But just at that moment, some neighbor kids came to their house, saying they heard meowing coming from a storm drain at the nearby construction site.

The family quickly rushed to the site. After hearing desperate meowing cries, they began digging through the dirt and cutting the landscape fabric, hoping to find their lost cat.

One of the family members described the heart-stopping moments in an interview:

“A little paw shot out of a tear in the fabric. It was a tabby cat paw. We tore the fabric more and then his head popped through.”

With a lot of effort, the family worked together to set the cat free. When they finally did, they were overjoyed – it was their beloved Drifter. He still had his collar, confirming his identity.

His owners assumed that he had sneaked out of the house to explore the nearby construction site, but no one knew how he ended up stuck in the sewer.

He had been trapped, unable to find his way out, and remained there for nearly eight weeks. It was a miracle he survived, and the family believes he had been eating and drinking whatever he could find.

After setting Drifter free, he was very skinny and starving, but happy to be reunited with his loving family. They instantly rushed him to the vet to check his overall health as he had lost a lot of weight.

Miraculously, he was completely fine and just needed a high-quality diet to help him regain strength. Now, Drifter is recovering from the accident, surrounded by love and care.

After everything that had happened, Drifter’s family hopes he has learned his lesson and that, from now on, he’ll always choose to stay indoors, no matter what.
