Minneapolis Residents Horrified Seeing A Tabby Cat Thrown From 12th-Floor Balcony
A serene night in Minneapolis turned tragic when a small tabby cat was thrown from a 12th-floor balcony, leaving onlookers horrified as she hit the ground.
The cat, now named Rue, lay motionless, and it appeared unlikely she could survive such a fall. However, in a miraculous turn of events, this resilient cat defied the odds!
The brave one-year-old tabby had suffered severe injuries: a broken jaw on both sides, a badly fractured right leg, and a broken left foot. Her survival seemed almost as miraculous as her fall.
Emergency responders quickly transported Rue to the Home for Life Animal Sanctuary, where she received urgent medical attention.
Veterinarians worked tirelessly to set her legs in casts and used a device to hold her shattered jaw in place, avoiding the need for more invasive surgery. The delicate procedures marked the beginning of Rue’s long road to recovery.
Despite her severe injuries, Rue’s spirit remained unbroken. She managed to eat and groom herself even with a broken jaw and legs. Home for Life described her as a “courageous and resilient cat.”
Her story resonated deeply with people worldwide, as Home for Life wrote:
“It looks as if she will overcome the cruelty with which she was treated, thrown away, and over a balcony, with no regard for her life. Her survival story has touched the caring hearts of people worldwide who are heartbroken by the cruelty shown to this innocent creature but who are nevertheless thrilled that she is fighting to survive and heal.”
Rue’s foster shared:
“It’s amazing to me how an animal who has been failed as terribly as her by her owner, can feel safe and trusting so quickly. We really don’t deserve animals.”
A few witnesses had seen the cruel act, and there were calls for the person responsible to face charges of felony animal cruelty.
However, to the dismay of many, no charges were filed. The authorities cited insufficient evidence to pursue the case further, leaving many feeling that justice had not been served. As Home for Life shared on Facebook:
“Some good news and disappointing news. Rue came thru the innovative procedure today to bond the canine teeth of both sides of her jaw, upper and lower, to stabilize the fractured bones so she can heal. She is pretty tired but resting comfortably. Meanwhile, we learned today that her case is closed, with no charges brought for animal cruelty. The fact that animal cruelty of this scale is occurring, and without apparent consequences needs to be brought to light.”
The good news is that Rue is now receiving the love and care she needs. The sanctuary reported that Rue was tired but resting comfortably after her jaw surgery.
Home for Life is hopeful that her fractures will heal and that she can start a new, happy life. They wrote:
“We hope that today marks a turning point for her, and that she is on the way to healing and a life of love and caring.”
Rue is only one year old, and it breaks my heart that anyone would throw this beautiful cat, or any animal, from 12 floors, but thankfully she is now getting the love and care she needs.
I hope Rue makes a full recovery soon and finds the happiness she deserves. Her story is one of survival and hope, showing us the power of kindness and the strength of animals.
Please share Rue’s story to inspire everyone to stand against animal cruelty and to cherish and protect the innocent lives that depend on our compassion.
